Actinic keratosis diagnostics

What AK means clinically

Actinic keratosis is associated with chronic UV damage and is treated as a premalignant lesion.

Typical locations

It commonly appears on sun-exposed areas such as the face, scalp, ears, forearms, and hands.

Some lesions may progress toward invasive squamous cell carcinoma, so risk-based treatment and monitoring are advised.

Management strategy

Choice of therapy depends on lesion thickness, location, number of lesions, and overall skin cancer risk profile.
