The Old Town Clinic team is the winner of the prestigious “Golden Scalpel” competition! This is the 16th edition of the competition organized by the editorial office of “Puls Medycyna”. A competition that promotes pro-innovative projects in health care in Poland. The scientific team consisting of the project leader, Jacek Calik, M.D., and a team of M.D. Bartosz Woźniak, M.Pharm. Natalia Sauer, prof. Ph.D. Piotr Dzięgiel, Ph.D. Eng. Tomasz Zawada, M.A. Torsten Bove was awarded for the research project “High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) integrated with dermatoscopic monitoring as a new method of treating cancer, infectious and inflammatory skin diseases.” The study introduces new possibilities for the treatment of skin diseases - cancer, infections and immune-related inflammations. The use of HIFU, i.e. high-frequency ultrasound integrated with digital dermatoscopy at high magnification, enables precise and safe medical treatments. The research material collected during the project contributed to the registration of the One-M system (TOOsonix A/S, Hoersholm, Denmark) as a medical device of MDR IIa class.
